on top of the tops

The award for the strangest fashion trend in the art world for 2010 goes to the Hitler Youth haircut.  Nothing says sexy, strong, and powerful like fascism.

From Help.com:

Is the “hitler youth” haircut a legitimate name? Okay so I’m interested in getting this hair style, but I feel like it’s just a nickname for the real name of it. Do I really just go up to the barber and say “I want a Hitler Youth haircut please”? it just feels…. weird.

I find this haircut incredibly sexy, confusing me to no end.  Let’s just call it the David Lynch cut from now on.  Blame it on David Lynch, if you don’t want to discuss fascism.

The runner-up for most confusing fashion trend? Penciled-in eyebrows.

This trend will give your face a full and dark Eastern European look that’s like a business meeting between Marina Abramovic and Christina Applegate.

Honorable mentions:

  • Being closeted; If you can’t come out in the art world, you’ll have a difficult time anywhere else.
  • Being married
  • Backpacks
  • Mustaches
  • Deodorant

i got the “hitler youth haircut” comment a lot when my mohawk grew out. roy’s hair has been described the same way but he was going for the “don draper.” they’re not that far apart, one is just longer on top.

    you should’ve said MINI backpacks.
