suffering from dryness?
To prevent the signs of aging and to prevent dry and cracked skin, moisturize. Recently, this preventative method has been applied to the surface of art. For the September 2009 issue of Frieze, the artist John Russell wrote in his spiraling, whack-to-the-brain essay “Why are Conceptual Artists Juicing Again? Because they Moisturise it’s a Glistening Sparkle”:
Rather moisturising has the potential that philosophy ONLY (mainly) HAS FORCE at the point before it is understood…In the way Deleuze and more recently Ranciere have ultra-finessed art [painting] as convenient surface-as-‘surface’ as image-plane of transference and correspondence, lubricating ‘between the surface of the exhibition of forms and the surface of the exhibition of forms and the surface of the inscription of words.’
Unfortunately, moisturizing isn’t a remedy, only treating the visible symptoms of something that could be deeply malign.
